User-Inspired Olfactory Sensors: From Lab to the Field Workshop

Thrilled to announce WolfSens recent workshop titled “User-Inspired Olfactory Sensors: From Lab to the Field,” which explored cutting-edge sensor technology and its applications in agriculture, health, and environmental monitoring. The workshop was organized by the WolfSens (Wearable Olfactory Sensing) team led by Professor Qingshan Wei at North Carolina State University!

Over two days, attendees delved into insightful sessions led by experts from NC State and industry pioneers. From low-power CMOS-compatible electronic nose arrays to soft wearable sensing systems, participants explored the latest advancements in sensor technology.

They also delved into AI and machine learning applications in VOC sensors, engaged in panel discussions on plant health and precision human and environmental health, and took part in team-building activities and interactive demos.

WolfSens team extend their heartfelt thanks to all the speakers who contributed their expertise to our recent workshop. Special appreciation goes to Professor Qingshan Wei, Professor Veena Misra, Professor Yong Zhu, Professor Alper Bozkurt, Professor Nelson Vinueza, Professor Coby Schal, Professor Edgar Lobaton, Professor Denis FOURCHES, Professor Alex Wiltschko, Professor Diganta Adhikari, Professor Ricardo Hernández, Professor Seung-Hyun Cho, Professor Jessilyn Dunn, and Professor Sangeeta Joshi for their engaging presentations and thought-provoking discussions on applications in agriculture, health, and environmental monitoring, Zach Hetzler to led the brainstorming session V at the event, and Patricia Foland to organize this workshop. Your contributions were instrumental in making the workshop a resounding success, inspiring attendees to explore new frontiers in sensor innovation.

Lab tours and demonstrations showcased innovative sensor solutions.

The WolfSens (Wearable Olfactory Sensing) project is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) Convergence Accelerator Program. The event is supported by N.C. Plant Sciences Initiative, NC State Global One Health Academy, ASSIST Center, IConS: Institute for Connected Sensor-Systems, NC State College of Engineering, and NC State Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.
