Bio
Dr. Liang Dong is currently the Vikram Dalal Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Director of the Microelectronics Research Center, and Faculty Scholar of the Plant Sciences Institute, at Iowa State University (ISU). He is also an associate of the U.S. DOE’s Ames National Laboratory, and a member of the USDA/NSF-funded AI Institute for Resilient Agriculture at ISU. He received his Ph.D. degree in Electronic Science and Technology from the Institute of Microelectronics at Tsinghua University in 2004. His doctoral dissertation on MEMS based infrared imaging sensors won the National Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award (China). Before joining the faculty of ISU in 2007, he was a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Wisconsin-Madison, developing micro-optical and microfluidic devices. Dr. Dong previously held Northrop Grumman Professorship and Harpole-Pentair Professorship, and received the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the PSI Faculty Scholar Award, the Early Career Engineering Faculty Research Award, and the Warren B. Boast Undergraduate Teaching Award at ISU.
